Luke and Angela Haythorpe have been working in YWAM for over 15 years. They worked with YWAM in Townsville, Australia for 10 years and have been pioneering Ember Ink since October 2010.
Aussie born Luke brings DTS, music and media experience as he led both the Communications and Music departments at YWAM Townsville.
Originally from the Bay Area, Angela brings photography, art and video experience. Angela comes from a lineage of artists, has worked as the Director’s Assistant and has assisted in the Training, Communications and Music Departments at YWAM Townsville.
Both have a heart for youth, as the future leaders of this world, and desire for these upcoming generations to see not only with a global perspective but with God’s heart on the issues of today.

YWAM San Francisco Bay Area Coordinator
Tim is presently the YWAM International Cities Coordinator, the YWAM San Francisco Bay area coordinator and directs the local work of YWAM in the Tenderloin neighborhood of downtown San Francisco.
Tim and his wife Karol started the work of YWAM in Chennai, India in 1983 and served there until 2007. During that time Tim served as the YWAM Chennai director, the South Asian urban missions director and as the National director of YWAM at various times. The overarching goal of their ministry was to raise up indigenous workers. Today YWAM India has more than 1500 national workers serving in over 150 locations of the Subcontinent and is one of YWAM’s largest works in the world.
Tim continues to serve as YWAM’s International Cities Coordinator and he frequently speaks in a variety of YWAM training programs, conferences and regional gatherings on “Strategies for Reaching Cities.” Tim has personally taught in more than 100 training programs in cities such as Bangkok , Tokyo, Perth, Worcester, South Africa, Lima , New York City, Helsinki, Oslo, and Malaga, Spain to name a few.

Karol Svoboda has been in YWAM since 1974. She is married to Tim and they have three grown children. Together they serve as YWAM San Francisco (Tenderloin Center) Directors.
Karol has an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education. Karol has worked with children in a primary school setting in India and also with children at risk in the Street Shelter and Aids Hospice that YWAM Chennai ran. Karol did ongoing homecare/teacher training with the teachers and caregivers in the shelters. Karol also had a lot of involvement with pastoral care of our staff and continues in that role at YWAM San Francisco as well as reaching out to families from overseas in the neighborhood through Because Justice Matters, which is also a YWAM San Francisco Bay Area Ministry.

Angela Haythorpe is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and joined YWAM in 2000 with YWAM Townsville, Australia. Serving there just shy of 10 years, she has worked as the Director’s Assistant, has helped develop and assist in the Training, Communications and Music Departments of YWAM Townsville.
Angela, along with her husband Luke and their four children, moved to San Jose, California at the end of 2009 to pioneer YWAM Ember Ink. Being a pioneer herself, she has a heart to see more ministry pioneers launched in San Jose, throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and abroad.
Angela currently serve as a co-directors of YWAM Ember Ink with her husband Luke. She also serves on the Board of Directors for YWAM San Francisco Bay Area.

Luke Haythorpe has been serving in YWAM since 1999. Luke had a great chance to learn and develop as he served several years at YWAM Townsville, Australia. With years serving on the DTS team, leading the Communications ministry, starting the Music Ministry and helped develop young leaders, he is seasoned in building and developing team in a variety of contexts.
Luke is focused on seeing people reach their full potential. As he was trusted, encouraged and believed in to take risks as a young man, he wants to pass on this value through YWAM Ember Ink. He is particularly passionate in coaching and developing leaders. He loves seeing musicians, creatives and leaders find their place and purpose in mission.
Luke currently serve as a co-directors of YWAM Ember Ink with his wife Angela but serves with his local church ’The River Church Community’ in a coaching capacity within the Worship Ministry and also lends his time serving other churches in the Bay Area as a worship leader.
